About Me
Hello Mama,
I'm so grateful you found your way to me. I'm Lisa, a Mama of two, wife to a sailor, qualified social worker and certified doula. I am passionate about the transition to motherhood and would be so honoured to work with you at such an incredibly transformative time in your life. I use my skills as a social worker and doula to support you in your desired birth and postpartum. Each doula has her own style and whilst I may have a sprinkling of 'woo woo' with a splash of essential oils, I am very much an empath and critical thinker who values evidence based information, kindness, love and a pragmatic approach to supporting each woman in her own unique journey.
I have experienced two empowering hospital calm births; both entirely different from each other. I don't have preconceived ideas about how your birth should unfold. I support all births; home or hospital, medicated or unmedicated, vaginal or caesarean section and anything in between. I am of the opinion that we are all unique individuals who approach our desired birth with a story. My aim is to unpack that story and release any fear so that you can approach your transition to motherhood from a place of love.
My postnatal doula support service is delivered to best suit your needs. All families differ in their needs and desires so my service delivery is tailor made specifically for you. Being a Defence Force spouse myself, I understand the impact that the lack of a 'village' can have on your postpartum experience. That's where the role of a doula is crucial. A nourishing postpartum requires forward planning for wrap-around support. Whether you need a delicious meal prepared, someone to hold the baby while you shower, support with sleep and settle or breastfeeding, a basket of laundry folded or a warm hug and listening ear... I'll be there! I also have an array of options for referrals to other services as needed.
I am respectful of your choices and want you to have all the information and tools you need to achieve your desired birth and postpartum, however that may look for you. It is a great honour to be invited into your birth and postnatal space. It is imperative that we are the right fit so that you feel completely comfortable during one of the most raw and vulnerable times in your life. For this reason, I offer a free 30 minute meet and greet to see if we would be a good match on your journey to motherhood. My packages are flexible and can be tailor made specifically for you.
